0.3 Safe Tanning
What Is 0.3 Safe Tanning?
Safe tanning under the 0.3 standard means that a sunbed, when 25 cm away, should not surpass the UVB pressure levels of the midday sun in the Mediterranean (0.3 watts/m2), making it the safest choice with lower melanoma risk. In terms of performance and tanning effects, the process is two-fold: UVB produces melanin (but can cause burns), while UVA turns melanin brown (without causing burns). By reducing 70% of UVB and increasing UVA, tanning initiation takes a bit longer (around a day) and requires slightly extended sessions (10-12 min). The advantage is a reduced risk of burning, resulting in a superior tan! Darker, deeper, longer lasting, and more natural, with less skin dryness or itching. Notably, 0.3 also provides better results for tanning legs, addressing a common challenge in home tanning. It's crucial for individuals to understand that skin turning red is not an indicator of a sunbed's effectiveness.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU?
Adhering to EU and British safety regulations, our sunbeds boast a maximum UV output regulation of 0.3. This ensures a tanning experience similar to the mid-day Mediterranean sun.
